Privacy Policy

Effective July 22, 2026 · FAM by JOINFAM LLC · joinfamapp.com
The short version: your family's data belongs to your family. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, we don't let advertisers near it, and we only collect what the app needs to work. Delete your account any time and it's gone.

What FAM is

FAM is a family organization app: a shared calendar, meal planner, lists, chores and allowance tracker, with smart features like travel-time alerts and AI-assisted imports. This policy covers the FAM app (app.joinfamapp.com and our mobile apps) and this website.

What we collect

Account information. Your email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider), your display name, and a color you pick. Teen family members (13 or older) invited by a parent may have their own login with an email address; younger children never have accounts — they exist only as parent-created profiles.

Family content you create. Events, lists, chores, allowance entries, meal plans, recipes, and the profiles you create for your kids (a name, color, and optionally a birthdate). Kids do not have their own accounts and we do not collect contact information from children.

Google Calendar data — only if you connect it. If you choose to connect Google Calendar, we access the calendars you select to sync events two-way. FAM's use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements: your calendar data is used only to provide the sync feature you asked for — never for ads, never sold, never used to train AI models.

Location — momentary, never stored. If you grant location permission, FAM uses your current position while you have the app open to compute a live "leave by" time. We don't store your location or track where you've been. Home address, if you provide one, is stored to compute travel times from home.

Content you send for AI features. If you import a recipe link or forward/scan a school newsletter, that content is processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract the recipe or events, then discarded by the provider per their API data policies. It is not used to train models.

Notifications. If you enable alerts, we store a push token so we can deliver them. If you keep email briefs on, we send them to your account email via our email provider.

Payment information. When you subscribe, payment is handled by our payment processors — Stripe on the web and Apple on iOS. They process your card or App Store payment directly; FAM never sees or stores your full card number. We keep only your subscription status and a processor reference so we know your plan is active.

What we never do

We do not sell or rent your data. Inside the FAM app there are no ads, and we never share your family's content or data with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your family's content to train AI models. We do not collect data from children — kid profiles are created and controlled entirely by parents.

Who processes data on our behalf

FAM runs on a small set of infrastructure providers, each receiving only what their job requires: Supabase (database, authentication, hosting), Netlify (web hosting), Google (travel times via Maps; calendar sync if you connect it), Microsoft (Outlook calendar sync if you connect it), Anthropic (AI parsing of recipes and newsletters you submit), Resend (transactional email), Stripe, Apple, and RevenueCat (subscription payments and management), Kroger (only if you send a grocery list to your Kroger cart), Sentry (crash and error diagnostics), and Open-Meteo (weather, using approximate home coordinates only).

Our marketing website

Our public marketing pages at joinfamapp.com use the Meta (Facebook) pixel — a standard advertising cookie — so we can measure our own ads and reach people who visited the site. This applies only to the marketing website, never inside the FAM app, and it never touches your family's content. You can block it with any ad blocker or your browser's cookie settings, and you can control how Meta uses this data in your Meta ad preferences.

Sharing you control

If you create a babysitter/grandparent link, anyone with that link can view a read-only page of that day's schedule until the link expires or you revoke it. Private events show only as "busy." You choose who gets links and can turn them off instantly.

Retention & deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Family settings → Delete account); this immediately removes your login and, if you're the last adult in your family, the entire family and all of its data. You can also email hello@joinfamapp.com from your account email and we will complete deletion within 30 days. Full instructions: joinfamapp.com/delete-account. Disconnecting a calendar stops its sync immediately.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is scoped per-family at the database level (row-level security), and credentials are handled by our authentication provider — we never see your password.

Children

FAM accounts are for adults (18+). Kid profiles contain only what a parent enters and are visible only inside that family. "Kid mode" is a parent-controlled view on the parent's own account; it collects nothing from the child.

Changes & contact

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here and update the date above. Questions: hello@joinfamapp.com.
