These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and JOINFAM LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company that operates FAM ("FAM," "we," "us"), covering your use of the FAM application at app.joinfamapp.com, our mobile apps, and this website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use FAM.
FAM is a family organization service: a shared calendar with travel-time estimates, morning briefs, meal planning with recipe imports, lists, chores and allowance tracking, school newsletter parsing, kid modes, and read-only share pages for caregivers. Features may change as we improve the product; if we ever retire something significant, we'll say so up front.
You must be at least 18 to create an account — with one exception: family members aged 13 or older may create an account when joining an existing family at a parent's invitation, with that parent's consent. Teen accounts have limited permissions managed by the family's parents. You're responsible for your login credentials and for the people you invite: parents and other adults you add have broad access to your family's information, and share links expose your schedule to whoever holds the link — only share them with people you trust, and revoke them in the app when in doubt.
Kids. Kid profiles are created and controlled by parents. Kid Mode and Big Kid Mode are designed for children to use under a parent's account and supervision; the parent, not the child, is our customer and is responsible for that use. We don't collect more information about children than the profile a parent creates.
Free trial. New families get a 7-day full-access free trial. A payment method is required to start the trial. We will not charge you during the trial, and you can cancel any time before it ends to avoid being charged. If you do not cancel, your subscription begins automatically when the trial ends and your payment method is charged for the plan you chose.
Plans. One subscription covers the whole household. Current pricing is shown at joinfamapp.com and in the app at the time of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically — annually or monthly depending on your plan — until canceled.
Canceling. Cancel any time — from your billing portal for web subscriptions, or through your Apple ID settings for App Store purchases. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for; it simply will not renew.
Refunds. Because every family gets a free trial to try FAM before paying, subscription charges are generally non-refundable and we do not refund partial periods. We still want you treated fairly: if you were charged in error, or a problem on our end kept you from using FAM, email hello@joinfamapp.com within 7 days of the charge and we will make it right. Purchases made through the App Store are refunded by Apple under Apple's policies — request those through Apple, not us. Nothing here limits any refund rights you may have under applicable law.
App Store. Purchases made through Apple are also governed by Apple's terms, and Apple handles that billing relationship.
Everything your family puts into FAM — events, lists, recipes, photos of newsletters, notes — belongs to your family. You give us only the limited license we need to host, process, and display that content in order to run the Service (including processing text you submit through AI-assisted features like recipe import and newsletter parsing). We don't sell your content or use it for advertising, as described in the Privacy Policy. Delete your account and we delete your data.
Connected calendars (Google, Microsoft, or subscription links) remain governed by those providers' terms; disconnect them in the app at any time.
Don't abuse the Service: no unlawful use, no attempting to access other families' data, no probing, scraping, reselling, or overloading the Service, no uploading content you don't have the right to share, and no using FAM to harass anyone. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with a refund of any unused full period if the termination wasn't caused by your violation.
FAM is built on reputable third-party services — mapping and traffic data, calendar providers, email delivery, AI processing, payments. Their availability affects ours, and we're not responsible for their outages or errors, though we'll always work to route around problems.
FAM is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. For material changes we'll notify you (in the app or by email) before they take effect; continuing to use FAM after that means you accept the updated Terms. The current version always lives at joinfamapp.com/terms.html.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
